- Economics Primer – by Patrick Heyman; a short introduction to economics.
- Making Economic Sense, by Murray Rothbard (Super easy to read; A little about a lot of topics, including welfare, healthcare, and politics. If I teach this course again, this will probably be the main textbook.)
- I, Pencil, by Leonard Read (PDF version) (required process paper); short, illuminating essay on the complexity of even very simple things.

- Economics in One Lesson (abridged audio book), by Henry Hazlitt
- Introduction to Economic Analysis, by Joseph Salerno, this is a fantastic 10 hour introduction to Economics. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
- History of Economic Thought Vol I, by Murray Rothbard; stretching from the dawn of time through Adam Smith, this is a true eye opener. I don’t expect you to read/listen to it all, but chapters of it are very pertinent to our time and to the influence of Christianity on economic thought. Also chronicles the dawn of modern science and it influence on Economics…and remarkably apropos to nursing and medical research.
- History of Economic Thought Vol 2, by Murray Rothbard; traces the classical economists through Karl Marx. You don’t know Marx until your listened/read this.
Role of Law and government in Economics
- The Law. by Frederic Bastiat (PDF version); introduces the Broken Window Fallacy (required process paper)
- Economics in One Lesson, by Henry Hazlitt (PDF version); develops the Broken Window Fallacy (alternative to above for a process paper)
- What Has Government Done to Our Money?, Murray Rothbard
- A Critique of Interventionism, Ludwig von Mises (Mises shows why a mixed economy–partly free, partly socialist–cannot exist.)
